The objectives of this project were to develop the skills needed to work as a professional in the field of 3D modelling and to produce two highly detailed 3D models that would be animated on a turntable. The programs required to complete this project were Maya, MudBox, PhotoShop and Illustrator. The idea being to model two objects. The first being a hard surface object and the second being an organic object. The first object that was modelled for this project was a toy Jukebox. The milestones required to be met for completion of this model were: Reference material through similar 3D modelled objects and photographs of physical object; good polygonal flow on final working model; UV mapping; texturing; shading; lighting and finally animating on a turn table. The animated turntable within Maya was used to show and highlight the completed model rendered as well as the wireframe of the object to portray good polygonal flow. The second model that was created was an organic biped creature. Again the same techniques and workflow used on the first model was applied to this in the same way. When the second phase was complete, this being the completed creature rendered out on a turntable, the creature was then rigged and animated. Extra work that was completed for both the second and third phase of this project was modelling two assets for this creature. These being a weapon and a shield.
