A Different Way to See

The works which have been created are the result of initial research and development through plein air painting and photographic documentation, as the work progressed the work began focusing on the nocturnal scenes and the way in which I could use colour and the vibrant alluring lights of the city to really emphasis how the city transforms at night and how the grey tones of the day become many different electric shades of tone from various different sources.

The nocturne scenes which the body of work is comprised of is the main focus of attention and the way in which the city goes through a transition from day to night and how very mundane areas take on a new narrative is a very interesting transition for me personally because through this transition the familiar areas become more glamorous and exciting. The light sources and reflective surfaces provide ever changing scenes and formations for the works these new representations of specific areas is what the work is representing, and through this process give an insight into how certain areas can be reinvented and viewed.
