The Witch of the Woods follows Cora, a young girl who is dropped off to spend the weekend with her estranged Grandmother, the rumoured Witch of the Woods. Initially, Cora does not warm to her Grandmother, but when she chases a fairy deep into the woods, her Grandmother intervenes…
This narrated short film attempts to challenge our understanding of people who don’t fit into our own preconceptions of normal. Through the relationship development between Cora and her Grandmother the animation displays how an initial judgment of someone can be untrue of their character and what they can teach us. 2D animation, contrasting environment design and emotive music endeavour to create a film that makes us question what we really know about a person until we delve deeper and encounter their other facets.
