A lot of my work is centred around this symbol of the house, this project brings this symbol indoors, looking at domestic spaces and the people who create the feeling of safety. A lot of this work is inspired by family photos, with the aim of creating a body of work that evokes a feeling of strong nostalgia for views, replicating the feelings of looking through an old family photo album. I have had a focus on caregivers, particularly female figures and how their values and actions shape who we become as adults, and how I will one day hold this role for someone else. Using traditional photographs as as a starting point, I noticed small acts of care that go unseen. I wanted the etchings to symbolise the permanence of this care.
