Transcendence

Looking at the expression of the body as a ritualistic language this work explores how movement and gesture can be transcendent. The idea of the mask becomes a specific focal point as a symbol of transformation and as a visual barrier between the world and its wearer. This work attempts to break down personal barriers through ritualistic expression and transform chaotic and primitive impulses into an aesthetic form that will enable catharsis.
