When the pressure of College life becomes too much, a young college student is thrust into a haunting world shaped by her own anxiety, she must confront the one enemy she cannot outrun, herself.
I created the short film “Consumed” to depict the common struggle of stress and anxiety. Through the use of the dark eerie woods and misplaced props I wanted to bring the feelings to life, give them a physical form and illustrate these emotions in their own twisted world.
This short film aims to explore the overwhelming nature of anxiety through a character-driven narrative. Blending elements of psychological drama with surreal visual storytelling, the film adopts a stylised format where reality and imagination blur. Its approach uses symbolic imagery, sound design, and shifting environments to externalise internal emotion, allowing the audience to experience anxiety from the protagonist’s perspective.
Mental health is something everyone deals with, I am interested in portraying this struggle using Orla’s journey. Everyone has experienced challenges, and I want to use metaphors to show some of these and the complexity of the inner-workings of the brain. While everyone’s experience is different, I feel parts will resonate with most viewers.
Specialising in production management and post-production, I thrive on shaping stories from concept to final cut. I am particularly drawn to the design process where set dressing, props, and art come together to transform a blank canvas into the world of the characters.
As I prepares to graduate, I am eager to continue developing as a producer and Set designer within the film and television industry, with the ambition to create meaningful content that resonates with diverse audiences.
