Renting Roulette
My work presents a reflection on my own experience of navigating the Irish Housing Crisis, inviting a conversation about housing laws, housing prices, and quality of living in Ireland. Through silkscreen, sculpture and moving image, I explore the issues surrounding housing in Ireland and the frustration that comes with it. The issues of mould, rising rent prices, unfair landlords and inadequate facilities are a common conversation topic among students in Ireland. My work aims to use creativity to tackle a crisis. The housing crisis is a growing and topical issue that has a drastic impact on the quality of life in Ireland, which I feel soon, will burden my contemporaries. My work aims to create a relatable experience for the viewer, while also providing a comfort in the midst of a crisis.
