The Birth of Confinement

During the height of the Corona virus we were forced into a state of stillness. A stillness I found unsettling. I found myself partaking in uncontrollable manic actions. To try and prevent these actions I started creating self portraits that always took form of monstrous beings. I also began knitting and sewing, always with fleshy materials to represent the desire to sew shut my face. My practice investigates why these impulses feel so uncontrollable.

My concept embraces themes relating to ego/ perfection/imperfection and the alter self. Using a range of methodologies I hope to continue to investigate the body and mind.
