Our final year animation project, Doki Doki Go! Magical Girl Hero! is an exciting, anime-inspired short film focused on an all-out fight between a magical girl hero, Hinode, and her arch-rival, Murasaki. It is a collaboration between Clodagh Claffey, Iris Chapman and Zoe Doyle, and serves not only as a fun project between friends but also as a showcase of our interests and individual skillsets in our chosen specialties of animation.

This film was a perfect opportunity to showcase our individual specialisations, Clodagh focuses on 2D effects and compositing, Zoe focuses on character animation and storyboarding, and Iris focuses on character and background design. We can all agree that animation as a medium has shaped our artistic process in multiple ways, and we created this film with the intentions of showcasing our admiration to the trade. Its an homage to shows that are a staple in the animation community, like Sailor Moon, One Piece, and Madoka Magica. We wouldn’t be the people, let alone artists, that we are today without the talented animators who worked on these shows.
