Pox, Pox Eile, a haon, a dó

My work is based on the re-appropriation of my work as a child. I have always been interested in illustrative, narrative art. I am creating a dynamic body of work using various studio methodologies while combining text and image on diverse surfaces. Based on childhood experiences, the idea of nostalgia and a fair amount of absolute nonsense, I have created my own whimsical, kaleidoscopic world. I have an awareness and appreciation of how an acquitted child’s mind works in relation to art and hope to reflect that in my practice. ‘Pox, Pox Eile, a haon, a dó’ is primarily a satirical project revolved around the haphazardness of a child’s means of creating. Using a number of formats, my stimulus has shifted towards creating a duo of tongue-in-cheek, gruesome sculpture pieces that characterise the pandemonium surrounding reclaimed toys.
