The weight of imagery associated with space is overwhelming, very few people have heard these sounds, considering space to be silent, rather than the rich acoustic environment it turns out to be. My work focuses on the visual articulation of graphs, charts and radio signals. I translate data related to space exploration topics into audio-visual graphic scores using various audio and visual software. Visual sound patterns such as spectrograms are recorded using radio signals, this data we obtain from listening to space is every bit as significant and important to our comprehension of the Universe as more traditionally understood optical observation.
The idea of visual noise is central to my thinking. My aim is to convey a level of emotionality surrounding my research and gain a better understanding of our complex relationship to our sonic universe. Exploring the cosmos is ultimately an exploration of our soul and the interconnectedness of the universe.
