In my studio practice, I am working with and collecting items discarded through the means of flytipping our bog lands. A multitude of these items that are dumped are household items, for example, chandeliers, cooking utensils, children’s clothing and unexpected finds such as feedbags. Using these discarded objects, I create sculptural pieces, investigating and highlighting our throw-away culture and how the high turnover of discarded objects is affecting our native ecosystems.
Central to my artistic practice are the two self-supported sculptures featured in the current exhibition, aptly named “The Nuns Bush.” Constructed from illegally dumped feedbags and salvaged floorboards, The works featured in this show explore transforming objects discarded into sculptural works. The pieces created are not just about aesthetics but also challenge perceptions of waste and value and aim to highlight the concept of throwaway culture in our lives today.
