Andrew O’Toole is an artist who practices through photography and lm. The reasoning behind his work lies in the creation of knowledge relating to the negative implications of late capitalism upon the environment. The intention of his work is to inform his audience through lens based media about environmental issues and in doing so, create meaningful dialogue and understanding of industrial processes that society has become distanced from. The act of passing through sites of industry in the landscape on foot provides O’Toole with the opportunity to make a photographic record that doesn’t just show an audience the landscape, but how we relate to it.
