blue girl.

My practice revolves around personal and often confessional narratives. Self-portraiture is a key element that is used to explore themes of identity, sadness, and a sense of being other.

The girls in the images are figures of blue. Blue for melancholy – blue for alien – blue for isolation.

The girls are characterisations of different traits and personalities that we often compartmentalise, the blue faces here act as masks. Often behaving badly, they are products of self-loathing and self-sabotage. The figures revel in an artificial world, in an occupied headspace that is arguing, shouting and queasy from its self.
