“The garden reconciles human art and wild nature, hard work and deep pleasure, spiritual practice and the material world. It is a magical place because it is not divided.” —Thomas Moore Polly’s work is very experimental, it incorporates lots of photography and found objects, and she uses her sketchbook to draw natural and man-made forms. Through drawing, she immerses herself in the intricacies of botanical forms, exploring the subtle nuances of nature’s design. Her work is a reflection of the intricate harmony between nature’s elements and human creativity, expressed through the mediums of drawing and photography. Ultimately, her art is a celebration of the beauty and diversity of gardens, and a reminder of our profound connection to the earth. Through drawing and printmaking, she invites viewers to pause, to reflect, and to find solace in the timeless splendor of the garden. She reminisces about the moments spent in her garden with her mum and the memories created there together. She loves bookmaking and hopes to incorporate them in her degree show along with found objects from the garden. Polly pays great attention to the between things, grout in tiles or weeds and ivy, things that change over time. She enjoys documenting the changes in the garden or found objects, for her final year exhibition she hopes to show what it’s like in her garden and create that environment for others to experience.
