Prints and Pints: a celebration of the rural pub.

Holly’s work explores pub culture and tradition in Ireland, particularly the pivotal role that pubs play as a social hub for people of all ages. This semester her body of work has focused on pub interiors and celebrating the charm of a rural pub that is unique to Ireland. While also commenting on how the decline of pubs in recent years has disproportionately affected rural areas, both socially and economically.

This is done through various printmaking techniques such as screen print and intaglio. As well as a variety of charcoal drawings with create a visual narrative that aims to capture the essence of pub life, while also highlighting the impact that pub closures have in rural towns. The installation of this project allows the work to be viewed through the lens of a pub setting, creating an immersive experience for viewers.
