My work intends to exalt the feminine form and dismiss western cultures hegemonic views of the ‘Ideal’ body and feminine beauty. With the use of fragmentation, juxtaposition and collage; new forms are created in a discernible yet unfamiliar manner, they are grotesque, ambiguous, absurd, protruding, surreal and abnormal. Stretched material works as an expansive extension of the body. The body intends to exceed the boundaries and transcend the borders of the material, which represent the limitations set by western cultures classifications of beauty. There is a sense of suffocation, restriction and alienation embedded in the grotesque beauty created.
