General Waste

My work is an exploration of my mental state and that of my peers within the social climate of Limerick and the world at large. I am holding a mirror up to the confusion of this world; the constantly switching states of good and bad times, feelings and events. The confusion and apathy, but also enjoyment and celebration that arises in the face of everything.

Drawing from punk aesthetics and sensibilities as well as those of anti-art and anti-establishment, I seek to re ect through my collages, photographs, words and musings, and mixed media this celebration, enjoyment, cynicism and apathy by me and my peers.

I use cheap and readily available materials and processes partly in reference to punk and also as a re ection of the cheapness myself and my peers employ by necessity in our everyday living and socialising.

My use of canvas and the compositions thereon work in reference to the art
of tapestry – traditionally employed for its portability and durability as well as the telling of stories and marking of historical events.

My work is engaging with our socio- political world as one of wonder and confusion – full of paradox, full of a myriad thoughts, feelings, truths and conclusions.
