My practice is like get out of jail cards in Monopoly. They keep you going onto the next event. I looked at Contemporary Art and went back as far as Modernism, finding my own way. I don`t have a plan, but ideas that I inventory, this makes my paintings authentic. I put away work and finish it weeks later or longer. I look at my earlier work and think I really like this one now or something like that. My paintings are modest, I can`t imagine people taking home a big work and I don`t want them in the flat. One friend said think of my work as an act of worship which was helpful at the time.
A prominent autograph was incorporated to see the value of identity when it is out there, online. The Still Life series throw shadow, I don`t know what they mean, I just made them. They remind me of the work that was up in the Tate Pimlico around 1986 when I first started going to places like that, you know, post-war post-modern Barbara Hepworth.
