“Mimesis”

In the writings of Michael Fried, the term ‘absorption’ attempts to categorise the moment of complete concentration the artist has presented, inviting us, the beholder to be captive. Such images implore an accessibility for the viewer using various motifs and viewing dynamics. Noonan’s series of works formulate an anecdotal format. Noonan uses a variety of motifs and methods of display to activate a certain notion or narrative explored through painting language. Essentially Noonan values the audience becoming the most important element to the making of art. “Mimesis” presents a working dialogue between the maker and the beholder whereby the viewer is let into the orchestrated space and allowed get a sense of the immersive image evoking a sense of preoccupation within a theatrical production.
