The work is a process-driven, spontaneous exploration of gesture, form and colour. Compositions are revealed as layers of paint are added and subtracted; forms appear and disappear as the paint is scraped and scratched, covering or revealing what lies beneath. Working in oils and acrylics on paper, board and canvas, the paintings’ foundation is high-intensity colour, and invites intuitive and visceral reaction. To give shape to her abstract vision, the artist works with a wide range of possibilities, transposes the conceptualization and makes the observer of her art an accomplice.
Strong contrasts appear as a translation of harmonious, intangible elements and allow one to understand the intimate resonance with the sensitivity of the artist who makes the works come alive with action, gesture and emotion. Natural forms influence how the inner forces create form in her large gestural paintings. Lines of the drawings become the scaffolding of the colours, with abrupt shifts of tone.
Divided into monochrome works on the one hand and colourful abstraction on the other, the works provoke a range of conscious and unconscious thought, triggering emotions and memories in the viewer, creating something new and unexpected.
