The artists’ work explores themes of relocation and the family album. The works aim to capture and express the anticipation and anxiety of the physical journey when travelling between her native town in North Wales and home in Ireland. Naturally, it is the artists anticipation and melancholic longing to reconnect with her family that enables her to rediscover her home town each time she embarks on the return journey.
The physical separation and everyday absence of her immediate family has encouraged the work to evolve into a deep intimate investigation into her own family history. Through exploration of past narratives created through the family album and her own similarities linked between her grandmothers emigration to the UK in 1960. The artist rediscovers her family unit, now through her own nostalgic lens from a distance.
