The Quasai object
My work concerns itself with themes of ritual, intimacy, the collective and ideas around being or relating and the sentimentality in the mundane. I investigate ideas around the Theory of the Quasai Object with consideration of things having distributed agencies and potentialities for inductions into social networks. I engage with the idea of mundane everyday objects with social sentimentality such as lighters, morning coffees etc. I consider engagement of Quasai objects, as mediums of social intimacy, mediums of social ritual and social relation. I explore this under the lense of adolescence, exploring various aspects of nightlife and student living and shared living spaces. I use hands as a reoccurring visual motif in her work to function
as a catalyst to communicate intimacy in the mundane in my paintings. In my work, hands act as a medium for ritual of care and connection and interaction in the context of The Quasai Object. These artworks are developed as a celebration of the rituals in everyday life and
intimacy within them. I enjoy recognizing the affinity within the moments in-between moments in my work. My paintings ultimately serve an attempt
to explore what existing together, living as a collective, being and relating.
