ANEMOIA
The concept of Anemoia captures a deeply human emotion, a longing for a past we never experienced but somehow feel connected to. I am looking at my parent and their experience with emigration to New York. I am exploring my connection to them, through them. I look to memories I wasn’t present for, ironically to try and better understand who I am. I want to blend myself into their memories in hopes to be able to form my own. Almost to immortalize them in these newly formed collaged pieces of memories. I am trying to create a layered effect through my textiles that emulates a feeling of history, confusion and longing: holding on.
