‘You Run Like a Girl’ explores the strength, resilience, and often-overlooked experiences of women in Irish sport such as Ladies Gaelic Football (LGFA) and Camogie. Through photography, I capture women behind helmets, dirt-streaked faces, and fierce determination, challenging conventional portrayals of femininity in sport. These visuals are developed into a graphic campaign, using storytelling to confront the inequalities female athletes continue to face. By placing these works in public spaces, the campaign aims to amplify their voices, raise awareness, and ignite conversation.
My broader practice, rooted in ceramics, textiles, and graphic design, reflects shared histories, domestic rituals, and the strength of community. Influenced by my hometown in West Cork and the women who shaped me, my work is a tribute to identity, belonging, and the fight for fairness. By blending personal insight with social commentary, this project invites audiences to reflect, connect, and envision a more inclusive future.
