Art has provided ways to explore some of life’s most deeply personal subjects. I aimed to convey through my artwork the vulnerable state of someone dealing with mental health disorders and alcoholism. Someone can gradually ruin themselves without even acknowledging it, and this can have an impact on an entire family. I wanted to use my work to interrogate mental health and the value of seeking assistance. I used the medium of 2666 and sketching to express myself, exploring recollections and experiences, analysing and contemplating the significance of maintaining good mental health, whether it be psychologically, physically, or socially.
In my studio research, I explore the relationship between human and alcohol, the goal of understanding what can lead to addiction.
Drinking with friends or family is one of the most ancient forms of friendship in human history. Throughout my artwork, I explored the darker side of alcohol – when “sharing a drink” goes beyond the social activity, and boisterous behaviour.
