Aulaad – we grow and we forget

The film Aulaad is about a father waiting for this son to return after he has left for work. The word Aulaad comes from an Urdu word meaning children/ upbringing. Through this film, I wanted to highlight the notion of children abandoning their parents when they grow old, thus the tag line “we grow and we forget”. The film takes the audience to the journey of father where he goes about his day to day life, but as a parent he hopes for his son’s return.

The film has two characters’ son and father. However main emphases are on the father’s journey through the film. The father is a farmer and he farms the land for living. I wanted to show the audience his feeling and emotions when he is without his son. The film is set based on rural mountainary side of Pakistan.
