Dis – Cover is a zine created to inform and inspire. It’s a source of material for designers and music lovers alike. The mission of this zine is to portray a bold and evocative tone while remaining educational. Creating a visual timeline of the history of album cover art, this zine starts all the way back at the first artwork created for the cover of a vinyl and continues a journey of success to failure to resurrection all the way to the tiny pixels seen on a screen while scrolling. The album cover became not only relevant but necessary for success and this zine illustrates its struggles to stay relevant in the ever-changing world.
Dis – cover comes from a series of zines that are all about music and its visuals. The series of zines is all about design in the music industry. Each issue focused on different aspects of design in the music industry including album art, trends, fashion, and artist’s input. This collection of zines is a collective resource for designers while also being a source for music lovers to learn more about the history of their favourite visuals.
