Breast Cancer: Familial, Support, and it’s Residuals

Art has provided ways to explore some of life’s most deeply personal     subjects. Using clay medium, I hoped to channel in a positive way, through imagery, what could speak of the disease of breast cancer in women and the various residuals it can have on survivors. Conceptualizing research into visual expression is the goal. Illumination from research led to my inclusion of lipstick painted canvases as a further statement about women. These paintings reflect that women are beautiful without observing their breasts. Women have a natural beauty. It is important for survivors to understand and acknowledge this.
