This work explores the Irish bog as both a landscape and a legacy, a place rich with memory and cultural significance. Through my practice, I bury canvas to symbolize the burying of tradition, inviting a reflection on the passage of time and the erosion of heritage. By painting archival images on top of these canvases, I explore the conflict between preserving the past and the inevitable forces of change. Additionally, my oil paintings of the bog’s walls and vistas subtly capture the quiet connection between humans and the land, highlighting how we are shaped by it and how it continues to shape us. These works aim to provoke thought about the fragility of memory and the tension between what is preserved and what fades away.
