Under My Breath, I Utter.

I am interested in exploring the long-lasting influence the Catholic Church has had on the Irish psyche. Through photographing churches and overlapping the images, a liminal space is formed. A space between places. The difference between space and place is memory and associations. Catholic architecture features gothic canopies to honour saints and the heavens. This unconscious place is both solitary and domineering in its over-large features. The scale of these monuments to the Catholic Church are awe-inspiring, captivating the Irish population for centuries. This work aims to investigate this fascination for positive and negative effects of a quiet heterotopia.
