By displaying the relationship between a crocodile and the Egyptian plover bird, I aimed to show that no matter how scary someone may seem they are deserving of help, we must not let our preconcieved notions of each other stand in the way of acting together.
I wanted to find something that could represent human relationships without directly animating what was being said.
I switched my focus to nature and searched for unusual relationships that can be found in the wild. I chose the crocodile and plover bird as at first glance you would assume it was a predator and prey relationship. But this is not the case, even though the croc could eat the bird, it recognises its value and they have a harmonious relationship.
The birds trusts the croc not to eat it even though it is a scary prospect jumping into its mouth. This relationship shows exactly what we as a community need to do to overcome our divides. Trust each other and show compassion no matter our preconceived notions.
