In contemporary society the use of technology has risen exponentially. We can now carry out any part of our daily life online. Shopping, dating, working, banking are all just a click away. We are playing out relationships through likes, follows and retweets; trying to earn affirmation from our peers. We live in a duplicity of realities that often intertwine with each other but can exist separately. My work aims to explore this symbiotic relationship we have with the online world. From the basis of Jacques Lacan’s psychological theory of the ‘mirror stage’, challenging preconceived concepts of the physical and digital self as a singular entity, purposing both to be as real as each other.
