My tableware collection celebrates the domestic and the everyday. It is inspired by the teachings of my grandmothers and my childhood memories of them. Memories of baking – propped up beside the kitchen table, measuring flour by the fistful, the frenzy of whisking eggs and the crinkling of the paper that lines the tin. Of being wrapped safely in floral aprons. Of savouring the time together to relish the treats we had made. Memories of cosy knitted cardigans and the gentle embrace of the soft wool. These nurturing and comforting reminiscences have enabled the development of my own creative voice.
I hope my ceramic pieces evoke some of that comfort. My grandmother’s recipes in her own handwriting, soothing blues and precious gold. They are made to be used and enjoyed. To nourish you.
