You Know Someone. Design Campaign Project

My artwork explores themes of identity, emotions, self-expression, and the complexities of mental health. I seek to unravel the layers within ourselves that we all experience – but rarely share publicly.
Within its core, my artwork serves as catharsis for my emotional and mental state as a woman living in Ireland. My goal as an artist and an educator is to confront Irish societal issues, and how we can use visual art as a method of strength and communication to overcome challenges in today’s world.
You Know Someone is a Graphic Design Campaign aimed towards young Irish men and was created to spread awareness of the severity and ubiquity of Gender Based Violence (GBV). The name was chosen to highlight the likelihood of their knowledge of, or even relationship to, potential perpetrators of sexual assault. You Know Someone also urges young men to have compassion for female victims of GBV and provides advice on how to spot the warning signs and intervene, when and where possible.
GBV is a crime that is all too common and is not given nearly enough due diligence. Femicide has been on the rise in Ireland recently, according to many multiple reliable sources of data.
