Dinnertime

Receptive and expressive language deficits mean that Batty finds it difficult to deal with everyday social situations and people in general. Language simply confuses him.

When his mother announces that it is “dinnertime”, Batty experiences a sensory overload and we get to share in his struggle to make sense of the world.

Batty is a child-friendly animated short. The animation is fast and loose; it derives from line art that is broken, choppy and naive. Stylistically, the feel is of crayon on paper. The colour palette is intentionally limited so as to draw the viewer’s eye to Batty – and keep it there.
