Just Desserts: Dating can be Deadly
I have created this short as my final year project for Digital Animation Production – BSc (Honours) (Level 8) degree course for Limerick School of Art and Design. It will include the development and production of a 2D animated short which is aimed at an audience aged from twelve to adult. The work shown has been the result of hard work and dedication which was carried out over the two semesters of the academic year 2018-2019.
It depicts the humorous interactions between a narcissistic superhero and his monstrous blind date. Both characters are non-human beings living in a human world, trying to fit into today’s society conforming to human norms most of the time. The Superhero “Mr Fantastic” arrives at an exclusive restaurant in a media frenzy posing for the cameras he meets his date but to his dismay she does not live up to his superficial standards of beauty. Unable to escape and attempting to portray a fake public image he sits continues the date although he is unable to contain his contempt for his date Bonnie. Bonnie’s love at first sight soon sours resulting in disaster.
