The Quarry,S1 E2
The Quarry, S1 E2 is an installation based exhibition that is composed of painted plant portraits, live houseplants and chosen domestic objects which are all displayed together within a muted light pink space. The installation itself has been developed from a desire to evoke a sense of place by considering the role of private, domestic environments. In this particular installation, houseplants have been chosen to play the role of an observed sitter, similar to that of the figure in portrait painting, as a way of connecting my own personal domestic space to the more public exhibition sphere. Each individual piece and object displayed within the installation is chosen to exist alone while at the same time performing as part of the overall installation to create an immersive space. The space is created in a way to question what can be construed as art and how display methods along with setting can alter how an object may be perceived.
