This piece consists of stones I have gathered from various significant sites in Co. Wicklow, principally from The Great Sugarloaf Mountain. The stones have been cast in cardboard from moving boxes that I have used for over 10 years when moving to different homes around Wicklow. Within this piece I am attempting to make sense of the geography of my childhood. It is a way of confronting my feelings of home with my conflicting feelings of non-belonging wherever it was that I ended up, after the death of my mother when I was young. I have always able to view the mountains from which these stones have been gathered from. I have relied upon orientating myself to a geography of grief as well as the land. The stones work as way of symbolising the landscape that has been transformed through loss by becoming containers for grief.
