In Spirals
‘In Spirals’ is a surrealist expression of the chaos within the inner mind. This collection is an introspective reflection into the complexities of our emotions and understanding of ourselves. Saturated rainbow shades represent the different feelings which define us while black, representing emotional turmoil, can cause this harmony to shatter and explode. The geometric forms which adorn the garments are created through obsessive sequencing of the controlled spiral motif. ‘In Spirals’ lies between chaotic reactions to strife and repetitive patterns of behavior as a crutch.
Elaborate zero-waste designs are featured throughout the collection, which were produced on a domestic flatbed knit machine and embellisher. Additionally, surface detailing was added to garments with a domestic embroidery machine. These fabrics were then hand stitched with Swarovski crystals and vibrant felt appliqué. Such textile techniques were employed to create a couture level of sophistication in the collection, alongside embracing slow fashion production practices.
