All I have is my front-facing camera

This work explores the culture of the digital hideaways of Instagram and Pinterest. Social media platforms are at once somewhere to connect with others and a solitary space in which one can construct reality and articulate the self through the making and gathering of imagery.

The use of colour, translucency and sensory materials explores the visual pleasure associated with online images and self-creation. Silk, wax, neon plastic and saccharine colours seek to provoke a visceral, physical response. This body of work falls within the context of Post-Internet art – responding to a world which is transforming under the influence of the Internet with a sense of sanguine optimism and sensitivity.
