My work is an exploration of the theory of hyperobjects. Hyperobjects are objects so stretched in time and space that it is impossible for humans to perceive them in their entirety. They exist everywhere and nowhere at the same time. They surround us, yet we cannot really see them. The internet, global warming, light.
In my practice I create viewing devices to bring attention, to reflect on the invisible processes happening around us. Taking inspiration from 19th century optical toys, using optical phenomena I intend to create a feeling of wonder, excitement and curiosity. My aim is to encourage the viewer to think of the bigger picture and look beyond what is visible to the naked eye. To consider the processes happening on macro and micro levels.
