The content of my work is based on urban structures in the natural environment, concentrating on the Bridges of Limerick City. Placing my work in the context of seemingly forgotten places, where I see the architectural and natural environment having a dialogue with each other. In my painting I have completely erased the natural environment, taking the bare shapes of these images and erasing much of the surrounding detail. I feel in order to see something clearly, the object, needs to be taken from its setting and in the absence of the regular surroundings a new awareness emerges. The work explores aspects of pollution, alienation and isolation that is found along our riverbanks and bridges. In my images there is a parallel theme creating a sense of peace, tranquillity and hope, stretching across the City. These engineered structures that make up each of the bridges form the main focal point of my work both in my painting and photography. The various images create different yet recognisable shadow impressions, allowing a sense of ambiguity
