Entranced is a horror short film about a group of friends on a night out, who then suddenly find themselves in a mysteriously dangerous situation. My role on this project was a Sound Operator and Engineer in both production and post-production roles. I aimed to deliver high quality production sound which was shot on multiple different locations which included Woodview Park, TUS, LSAD and The Commercial.

Over the course of multiple production days, I managed the on location sound recording with the use of boom microphones along with the aid of other equipment. I adapted myself to on site challenges such as traffic noise, room/environmental noise, wind and reverbed indoor spaces, through planned mic placements, retaking shots and shielding. In the post-production stages, I used Pro Tools as a primary workstation to clean up, enhance and balance the audio, which included the use of EQ, Compression, De-Essers and many more methods to fix inconsistencies within the mix. I collaborated closely with the director to create an immersive and atmospheric soundscape with the use of foley sound, music and ambiance.

My main objective and role was to create an immersive, clean and emotionally suitable soundscape that matched with the directors vision. After I finalised the post-production mix and had an evaluation with the crew and director, I felt like I’d achieved this task to a fulfilling standard. This experience has strengthened my skills in both the production and post production aspects within the industry, and I’m ready to carry this momentum forward as I continue to grow in my career.
