I am a multidisciplinary artist who works across art, craft, and design. I have always been drawn to mixing different ways of making, especially where science and art meet. I enjoy using my own experiences and surroundings as a starting point, and a lot of my work comes from looking closely at things we might usually overlook such as bacteria, mould, or the spaces we live in.
One of my recent projects, “Shannon’s Pulse”, was inspired by the River Shannon and its connection to the human body. I collected water from the river and combined it with my own saliva to grow bacteria and fungi in petri dishes. Watching how they spread and took shape really influenced the way I worked. I used those organic growth patterns to create a series of mixed-media embroidery pieces. Each stitch became a way to explore the link between the river, the body, and the pulse of life in Limerick.
