Visual Lighting Show - "WE ARE" by ONE OK ROCK

This project is my final year capstone project, focusing on designing and programming a virtual lighting show using Capture Visualizer and Avolites Titan. The project involved creating a concert stage design, patching lighting fixtures, programming lighting cues and rendering lighting videos synchronised to music.

The song, “WE ARE” by ONE OK ROCK, has a powerful emotional energy that inspired the overall direction of the show. Instead of using intense flashing effects throughout the performance, the lighting design focused more on atmosphere, emotion and creating a sense of connection between the music and the stage visual.

Blue, pink, orange and white tones were used to shape different moods across the song, creating contrast between softer emotional moments and more impactful sections. Colour transition, beam movement, floor lighting effect were programmed to move naturally with the music, helping to create a more immersive visual experience.

Visual Lighting Show - "Satellite" by Sunset Rollercoaster and Leah Dou

The song “Satellite” by Sunset Rollercoaster and Leah Dou had a dreamy and atmospheric musical style. It is the type of music that requires the audience to quietly focus and listen.

The artistic approach of the stage design focused on creating a minimal and emotional visual environment to match the mood of the song. Most of the musical instruments were removed from the stage, leaving only a single sofa placed at the center of the stage. The minimalist setup helped to draw the audience’s attention towards the sofa and focusing on listening to the vocal.

Purple, blue, pink and white lighting tones were mainly used throughout the show to create a soft and cinematic atmosphere. Slow lighting movements, such as a 5 second fade colour transitions were programmed to follow the gentle flow of the music without becoming overly intense or distracting.

Integrated Project - Moana and the Kakamora

This chosen film clip is taken from the animated film Moana, showing the scene where Moana and Maui encounter the Kakamora pirates. The aim of the project was to recreate a mock-up version of the original soundtrack while adding creative ideas and sound elements of my own. All the sound effects, music, foley sounds and background ambience in the clip were recreated from scratch.

This scene was chosen because it contains many different mood changes within a short amount of time. It begins with curiosity, then quickly changes into action and ends with nervousness and humour. These emotional changes created opportunities to experiment with different sound design approaches throughout the clip.

Although this was a second-year project, it is still one of my favourite projects because the whole process felt very fun, creative and enjoyable.
