My practise investigates the identity of the everyday objects we surround ourselves with. By re-evaluating the function and role of the object that is predisposed by society through stereotype and routine, I seek to challenge this and create a space where a new conversation can occur.
The object and the familiar are the basis of my work. Taking objects that we overlook in our daily lives as components of a familiar routine, I consider the relationship that forms when opposing materials are brought together in a gallery setting. This relationship aids the transition of the objects identity from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
The banal objects are being placed on display, encouraging inquiry and discussion.
