Through self-exploration, I examine depression and anxiety. With the use of books, pages and self-imagery, my aim is to portray work that is visually appealing from a distance but vulnerable, intimate, and negative beneath the surface. Similarly, to that of a person with mental illness, they too may look physically healthy and stable on the outside but may be struggling inside. My aim is to create an environment where the viewer will feel anxious and slightly uncomfortable but also maybe relate to the work through their own personal experiences.
