Red City Serendipity
This collection was inspired by my own experience in Morocco, North Africa.
I also drew inspiration from the artwork of American artist Sarah Cain. Her colourful, abstract artwork is reminiscent of the colourful, haphazard environment that I experienced in Marrakech, Morocco.
In Morocco, ‘Baraka’ is the name given to the spiritual force that permeates all physical entities. With my designs I want to delve into this symbolic order that pervades the panoply of beautiful, uncontrived imagery that I encountered and documented during my time there.
I used natural Moroccan colour pigments to dye my fabrics and incorporated found Moroccan brocades into my designs.
