RITUAL

Rooted within the landscape of dementia, my work explores connections and memory triggers through the shared activities between a father and daughter. The ritual of butter making and the act of drawing bridge the past with the present and manifest itself in physical forms and performance.

The butter acts as a metaphor for the cognitive decline that exists within dementia. The impaired memory, forgetfulness, repetition and the inability to retain new information dissolve and melt into confusion, until it dissipates altogether.
